However, Erik ten Hag’s side are now said to be preparing their opening offer for the 20-year-old.
The club are looking to speed up the deal in order to avoid being hijacked by PSG.
Hojlund’s representatives have been in talks with the French giants, the report adds.
PSG reportedly entered the race to sign the forward last week as interest grows in the youngster.
Atalanta value him at £86million, having only signed him last summer and their still being four years remaining on his contract.
The Italian club have also made it clear they will not accept a player plus cash offer for Hojlund.
Hojlund has scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 34 matches for Atalanta since signing from Sturm Graz in 2022.
He also has six goals in as many caps for Denmark, prompting interest from clubs across Europe.
