Bayern Munich are sweating on the fitness of Harry Kane after the England captain was substituted during the closing stages of Saturday’s 5-2 win over Darmstadt.
Thomas Tuchel’s side kept their hopes of hauling in runaway Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen alive by coming from behind to record a third straight victory.
The German champions fell behind early on but goals from Jamal Musiala and Kane himself ensured Bayern went in at the break ahead.
Musiala was on target again after the break before goals from Serge Gnabry and Mathys Tel put the gloss on the scoreline.
Kane, meanwhile, was forced off eight minutes from time after he went down clutching his left ankle having collided with a post.
The Three Lions skipper is due to link up with the national squad next week ahead of the upcoming friendlies against Spain and Brazil.
A Champions League double header against Arsenal is also on the horizon and Bayern call ill afford to be without their new talisman.

Asked about Kane’s condition after the game, Bayern Sporting Director Christoph Freund said: ‘We hope it’s not so bad. He was subbed off as a precaution. He won’t take any risks with the national team.’
Tuchel, too, was unwilling to give a full diagnosis, adding: ‘He collided with the post and twisted his ankle a bit – he had his ankle iced. There’s still no diagnosis, we have to wait. I hope it’s nothing bad.’
The 30-year-old did give a brief response himself as he walked through the mixed zone when asked for an update on his ankle and said: ‘It’s a little bit painful.’
After three consecutive defeats in February which prompted confirmation that Tuchel would leave in the summer, Bayern are arguably getting back to somewhere near their best.
Long-serving goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, however was disappointed with the goals his side conceded and admitted they cannot afford to repeat those mistakes with sternest tests ahead.
He said: ‘We kept going and didn’t change our style of play even after conceding. We then created chances and took advantage of them.
‘We also had players who make the difference like Jamal on the pitch who are difficult to stop.
‘Of course two goals conceded are too many. We have to talk about that. Both goals were not easy to defend, but that needs to be analyzed.’
