Who is England player Laura Coombs?
Laura Coombs is an English professional footballer who was born on January 29, 1991.
She was born in Gravesend, Kent, in England.
Laura has a degree in HR and business from the University of Hertfordshire.
She began playing football when she was young, at around seven years old.
After joining a team run by a family friend, Coombs progressed to Arsenal’s youth academy and then began playing in the first team at 16.
Which teams has Laura Coombs played for?
Laura has played for Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City in the UK.
In 2007 she made her senior career debut for Arsenal.
Coombs went on to play for Chelsea in 2011 and joined Liverpool in 2015.
Manchester City then signed Coombs in 2019.
Laura has also played in the US, representing American W-League team Los Angeles Strikers in 2011 and 2013.
How long has Laura Coombs played for England?
Coombs first played for England almost eight years ago.
Laura made her debut for the senior England women’s national football team in October 2015.
She won her first cap when she came on as a substitute in a match between England and China.
England were ultimately defeated 2–1 in the game but it is no doubt still a special memory for the player.
Laura did not play for England between 2015 and 2023 but was called up for the Arnold Clark Cup in early 2023.
Speaking about her return, Coombs said: “It’s a really weird feeling, getting that call [from Wiegman] because I wasn’t expecting it and that was the honest truth.”
She added: “It’s an amazing group to be a part of and you just feel lucky when you’re training that the level is so high and you’re tested every day.”
Coombs will represent her country once again in 2023 as she has been named as part of the FIFA Women’s World Cup squad.
Mary Earps, Lucy Bronze, Ella Toone and Rachel Daly will also play in the tournament in Australia and New Zealand.
