Berlin lion updates — Search enters 2nd day as cops say they ‘don’t know’ where big cat roaming German capital came from

GERMAN police have extended the search for a suspected lioness roaming the outskirts of Berlin – more than 24 hours after it was first reported to have been on the loose.

Officials advised the residents of Berlin‘s southern suburbs not to leave their houses on Thursday and to keep their pets indoors as news of the escaped beast filtered throughout the German capital.

Hundreds of officers joined “Operation Lion Hunt” in the capital’s southern suburbs but no trace of the animal was found overnight.

A police spokesperson said all local zoos and circuses have their lions accounted for – with officers now investigating whether it may have come from a private household.

Despite numerous tips from locals – including a few who claimed to have heard a loud roar – none of the information has led to the animal being located so far, police said.
