Rufus Pomeroy was a pupil at Redland Green School in Bristol
A boy has died following an accident over the half-term holiday, his school says.
Rufus Pomeroy, a Year 8 pupil at Bristol’s Redland Green School, was involved in an undisclosed incident last Tuesday.
Details of what followed are not yet clear but pupils and families were notified of his death on Friday.
Rufus, who was 12 or 13 years old, was described as a ‘a lovely and valued member’ of the schoolcommunity.
Headteacher Ben Houghton told BristolLive: ‘I would like to express our heartfelt thoughts and condolences to Rufus’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
‘We are devastated by the loss of such a lovely and valued member of our school community.’
A letter sent by Mr Houghton to families reportedly asked parents to urge their children not to discuss the tragedy on social media.
Support for pupils has been arranged by the school and Bristol City Council.
