Frank Lampard is a leading contender to replace Vincent Kompany as manager of Burnley, according to reports.
It comes after Kompany was surprisingly pinched by Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich to replace the outgoing Thomas Tuchel.
Lampard has been out of the dugout since his short interim stint with Chelsea at the end of last season.
The former England midfielder returned to Stamford Bridge following the sacking of Graham Potter but won just one of his 11 games during his caretaker spell.
Prior to that, the 45-year-old had an unsuccessful stint at Everton which came after he was sacked by Chelsea in January 2021 following a disappointing start to his second season.
Lampard emerged as a surprise candidate for the Canada men’s national team earlier in the year and was also linked with the Rangers following Michael Beale’s departure in October 2023.
According to The Times, he is now in contention to take over the Clarets as they look to bounce back to the top flight after a disappointing relegation last season.

Lampard is one name on the shortlist, with Scott Parker and Craig Bellamy also in the frame.
Parker has not returned to management since he was sacked by Club Bruges in December 2022 after an unsuccessful three-month tenure in Belgium.

However, the 43-year-old has an impressive track record in the Championship having won promotion to the Premier League with both Fulham and Bournemouth.
Bellamy, meanwhile, is yet to take on a first-team managerial role but served as Kompany’s right-hand man during his time at both Burnley and Anderlecht.
