National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu has called on the Imo State Government to immediately construct a standard flyover or modernized roundabout at the IMSU Junction in order to stop fatal accidents in the area.
Anyanwu, who was the PDP gpvernorship candidate in the 2023 elections, made the call in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Monday.
Recall that about six people died in an accident at the IMSU junction oh Saturday, when a trailer crashed into four buses.
“If the present government in the state is proactive and has the interest of the citizens at heart, the first thing it would have done is to identify areas that affect the citizens and urgently proffer solutions to them.
“IMSU junction is one of the areas that needs immediate attention. This is because students and lecturers stay at the junction to wait for taxis and buses.
“Instead of spending the state’s funds on frivolous and unimportant projects, the state government should immediately take action geared towards rescuing the situation.”
Anyanwu also commiserated with the families of those that died in the tragedy, praying God to grant those they left behind the fortitude to bear the loss.
While praying for the souls of the departed, Anyanwu equally called on the state government to do everything possible to extend hands of goodwill to the bereaved families by ensuring that children and wives of those who died in the incident are trained and supported.
