Ex-Abia Speaker’s Registration Followed Due Process – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has said the registration of a former speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji who joined the party on Tuesday followed normal procedure.

The defection of the immediate past speaker who is the son of a former governor of the state, Senator Theodore Orji, came in the wake of defections that has hit the former ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking on the new development, the acting organising secretary of the chapter, Mr Nnadozie Uruakpa, stated that every procedure on membership registration was duly followed in admitting the former speaker into the party.

Uruakpa said reports purporting that Orji’s registration was faulty were based on the wrong notion that he was registered at the state secretariat of the chapter.

He said the former speaker was not registered at the state secretariat of the chapter, adding that his coming to the state leadership of the chapter was purely for the purpose of introduction.

He stated that Orji’s registration had commenced at Urban Ward 1 office of the party in Umuahia North local government, where the chairman, Dr. Nathaniel Okoro personally registered the former speaker.

“This was done in the presence of APC Umuahia North local government chairman, Elder Ifeanyi Ekwuribe and other members of both the ward and local government executive committees,” he said.
