The Yobe State House of Assembly has asked the executive arm of government to assist kidney transplant patients in the state.
The House made the call in a motion of urgent public importance moved by members representing Machina, Damaturu central, Bade West and Mamudo constituencies, Nasiru Hassan Yusuf, Mohammed Isa Bello, Kachalla Ajiya Maina and Sanda Kara Bade.
The legislators who spoke at length on the increasing number of kidney transplant patients in the state; stressed the need for government, philanthropists and other donor agencies to support them in procuring their drugs.
The lawmakers said kidney transplant patients permanently survive on drugs which are expensive and need assistance considering the economic hardship in the country.
Supporting the motion, the lawmakers representing Gujba, Jakusko and Bursari. Constituencies Bulama Bukar, Adamu Dala Dogo and Babagana Zanna among others described the motion as one of the very important ones that needs the government’s quick response.
Presiding over the sitting, the speaker of the House, Chiroma Buba Mashio assured that the House will collaborate with the executive arm of government to ensure a lasting solution to the incidents of kidney disease in the state.
