A married Tory Lord’s name has appeared on a baby’s birth certificate in Saudi Arabia.

The Mail on Sunday found that Ed Vaizey’s name was seen on an official document recording the birth of Saudi Arabian political analyst Najah Al-Otaibi’s daughter.

Najah, 41, split with her husband and BBC presenter Tim Wilcox after just two years of marriage.

Though Vaizey is not named as the father, Najah’s daughter is named Victoria Vaizey Edward Al-Otaibi – and the name of the father was left blank.

Interestingly, his name was not originally on the birth certificate – it was only added a year later, prior to the cut-off point for forenames to be changed.

When approached by a reporter last week, Lord Vaizey said he would not make a comment.

Lord Vaizey has been married to solicitor Alexandra Mary-Jane Holland for 19 years, though he and Najah have rubbed shoulders, both being involved with the Saudi British Society.

Najah and her husband split in 2019, however, with one source telling the Daily Mail that ‘she divorced him’.
