Boy, 15, arrested after death of pensioner, 70, in Glasgow

A teenager has been arrested in connection with the death of a pensioner following a ‘serious assault’.

On Friday evening, Victoria Road in Glasgow was cordoned off as police and ambulance responded to the scene outside of a Sainsbury’s.

A 70-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 15-year-old was arrested in connection with the crime.

A Police spokesperson said: ‘Around 11.55pm on Friday, 12 April 2024, police were called to the Victoria Road area of Glasgow, following the reported serious assault of a 70-year-old man.

‘The man was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

‘A 15-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries remain ongoing.’
