A man has died in a two-vehicle car crash on the A48 near Minsterworth, a village in Gloucestershire.
The 51-year-old from Coleford was driving a Vauxhall Astra along the A48 when he crashed into a blue Mercedes B180 this afternoon.
Emergency services were called at around 12.50pm. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two occupants of the Mercedes were taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester with serious injuries.
A witness spotted two air ambulances hovering above the highway, being among a ‘dozen’ emergency vehicles at the scene, they told Gloucestershire Live.
The crash touched off an eight-mile-long closure for most of the afternoon along the A48, a major thoroughfare that connected Gloucester to Carmarthen, Wales.

The police said this evening: ‘The A48 between Elton Corner and Highnam Roundabout remains closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes.’
Police have appealed for witnesses and asked anyone with information about the crash to get in touch.
The county council’s highways department wrote on X earlier today: ‘Emergency Road Closure – From Highnam Roundabout junction A48 to Elton Corner, a series of road closures have been put in place at the request of emergency services due to an RTC situation that is still ongoing.
‘Please seek alternative routes.’
