A Salisbury man loves the Renault Espace so much that he decided to get a tattoo of one on his leg.

Vehicle detailer Robin Bartlett, 30, owns 10 Espaces currently, but has owned 20 throughout his life.

His love for the car stems far back to his childhood, he said: ‘I’d always thought they looked weird and funky.

‘I have an odd childhood memory from a school skiing trip in the early 2000s: an old mk1 Espace came flying into the ice-covered car park sideways with seven young guys and girls inside, all dressed in colourful jackets with skis and snowboards strapped to the roof rack.’

Robin spends most of his time around cars and owns his own vehicle-detailing company, Viking Detail in Salisbury.

But despite all the cars he sees each day, there are none that hold a special place in his heart as the clunky Renault Espace.

In the UK, there are only around 100 of the vehicles left on roads – meaning Robin’s 10 make up a tenth of all the UK’s Espaces.

With it being 40 years since the first was made, Robin decided to get a tattoo to honour and celebrate his favourite car.

He explained: ‘It’s only fitting that I do something really silly to celebrate an already ridiculous hobby that is rapidly taking over my life.
