Man arrested after woman’s body found in a car in east London

Police have arrested a man in east London after a woman was found dead in a car this morning.

Officers were called to a block of flats in Whiston Rd, Hackney, this morning after being alerted to concerns for a woman’s welfare.

Upon arrival, the woman in her 20s was found unresponsive in a nearby car parked in an alleyway and was prounced dead at the scene.

A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of murder, and the block of flats has been cordoned off while police conduct their investigation.

The deceased woman’s identity is thoughout to be known to officers and her next of kin have been informed next of kin, but she cannot yet be named as formal identification has not taken place yet.

The Metropolitan Police says that a post-mortem examination will be held as soon as possible.

While enquiries are in the early stages, police believe the deceased and the man arrested were known to each other.

A crime scene remains in place, with forensics spotted in the area.
