A British skier has died after crashing into a tree at a resort in the French Alps.
The 68-year-old was reportedly trying to avoid a group of fellow skiers on the piste at Avoriaz in Morzine yesterday.
He hit the tree at high speed and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Daily Mail.
His death comes a month after another man died on the Swiss Wall near Champery in Switzerland, also part of the Portes du Soleil region.
The 47-year-old was attempting the piste – one of the world’s most dangerous – despite it being closed due to icy conditions.
He is believed to have fallen several hundred metres to his death on the ski run, which has a 37° average slope and up to 76% gradient.
