Diogo Dalot snubbed Manchester United teammate Andre Onana as he named the player who he thinks will soon become the best goalkeeper in the world.

United spent £47.2m to bring Onana to Old Trafford this summer as he swapped Inter Milan for Manchester, replacing David de Gea as the club’s No.1 ‘keeper.

Onana has faced criticism on a number of occasions this term, with United legends Roy Keane and Gary Neville taking aim at the Cameroonian in January.

Speaking in December, Onana admitted he was ‘not happy’ with his form at United but laughed off doubts over his ability.

Onana’s performances have since improved – and he now believes he is on an upward curve – but it appears some of his teammates still need convincing.

Dalot, currently on international duty with Portugal, snubbed Onana this week as he tipped FC Porto star Diogo Costa to ‘soon’ become the world’s best ‘keeper.

Ironically, Costa was linked with a move to United last summer before the club brought in Onana.

‘I think [Costa] is already more than ready for this leap [to a top European club], which will happen when he decides, whenever,’ Dalot told Sport TV in Portugal.

‘I’ve had the opportunity to tell him several times that he has that ability and for me he will be the best goalkeeper in the world soon.

‘He’s already one of the best and that’s why I believe he has that potential, that future. In addition to being a great friend, he is a great goalkeeper and I look forward to seeing what he will do in the future.’
