£86,500 electric Porsche somersaults into a car park leaving one person critical

CCTV cameras caught the moment a Porsche Taycan somersaulted through the air several times after a speeding teenage driver lost control of the car.

Footage shows the sportscar coming off the road by a petrol station in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in the US, flipping across the forecourt, then landing in a shopping mall car park.

A 20-year-old male passenger in the vehicle sustained ‘significant injuries’ and was taken to hospital in a critical condition, according to police.

Incredibly the driver and another passenger, both 19-year-old women, escaped with minor injuries.

‘Speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash,’ police said.

The accident happened at around 4am on March 16, reports Yahoo News.

Omar Hasan, the manager of the petrol station, said: ‘We were thinking they had to be going over 100 miles per hour.

‘(They) hit that kerb, they ran through our whole lot, and they flipped and somersaulted and landed into the plaza next door.’

A tyre from the vehicle came off and smashed into a car he’d been telling his brother to move for a while.

‘Just thinking about it, if that car wasn’t there, it would’ve hit oncoming traffic and probably could’ve killed someone,’ Mr Hasan said.

Photos taken of the aftermath show the Porsche completely mangled and the parked car with a tyre smashed through the front windscreen.

Other parked cars were also reportedly damaged in the incident.

A police investigation is ongoing.

Earlier this month, a camera caught the moment a car flipped and was sent across the motorway in Cambridgeshire when a drink driver crashed into it.

The man survived, but suffered ‘many physical and mental injuries’, a court heard.
