A rescue centre has been forced to stop taking in strays as they have been overrun with dogs being returned to them.
High Hopes Dog Rescue Centre in Worcestershire hopes to give pups the ‘life and love they deserve’.
The charity takes in abandoned dogs, mostly from overseas, and pairs them with families in the UK looking to give them a home.
However, the charity has recently been forced to close its doors to new strays and suspend any more rescues due to the amount of dogs that are being returned.
This includes Jacks, a basset hound cross who has tragically been returned to the shelter five times.
The shelter’s founder, Sam Watson said the cost of living crisis has affected the centre.

She told the BBC: ‘Dogs are at risk, they are on the streets and we just cannot help them anymore.
‘It has got to a point where we just have to say no more.’
A volunteer at the centre said the dogs that are being returned are due to ‘no fault of their own’.
‘They may have small issues like chewing and other puppy behaviours and people see that as a reason to return dogs,’ they said.
