Despite not performing in Europe at all for two years, Adele has failed to sell out a run of planned shows in Germany, according to reports.

The British singer, 35, was forced to postpone a string of concerts last month as part of her long-running Las Vegas residency, after revealing she had been advised to go on vocal rest for the foreseeable future.

And it appears fans in Europe are hesitating to buy tickets for her upcoming gigs, with thousands of tickets still seemingly available despite being on sale for over a month.

A run of 10 concerts in Munich will take place between August 2 and August 24 and would be her first shows on the main European continent since June 2016.

However, according to reports, fans are said to be concerned about the Rolling in the Deep singer’s health and are holding off buying tickets until they can be sure she won’t have to postpone more shows.

This will no doubt come as a shock to the superstar who has had one of the most successful Las Vegas residencies of all time.

According to The Sun: ‘There is some fan reticence about buying the tickets, because people are worried about whether Adele will be well enough to perform them all.’

‘People follow her extremely closely — and Adele has been silent for a couple of weeks since announcing she was ill and taking a break. So her followers are worried about her and when she will be back.’

On the Ticketmaster website, large blocks of seats are still available for some shows at the Messe München, with tickets worth thousands still able to be purchased.

The source added: ‘But Adele has access to the very best treatment for whatever she needs in California, and a strong team around her.’

In a statement, the Rumour Has It performer said: ‘I love you, I’ll miss you like mad and I’m sorry for the inconvenience. I can’t hit my headnotes properly. I didn’t sleep very well and my chest is on fire. Straight after this show I’m going on voice rest.’

However, her fans were left feeling unhappy with their idol, with many mentioning that they had spent considerable amounts of money on travel and accommodation arrangements before the gigs were delayed.

This most recent postponement sadly isn’t the first time that Adele has had to miss shows due to illness, or after being asked by doctors to take care of her voice.

In 2011, the Someone Like You hitmaker underwent surgery on her vocal cords to remove a benign polyp (a small growth) which had caused her great difficulty with her singing.

Then in 2017, during a short residency at Wembley, she cancelled the rest of her six planned performances after just the second night – this was after being told she had damaged her vocal cords.

And in 2022, she said it was ‘the worst moment’ of her career after postponing the beginning of her Las Vegas residency just 24 hours before it was supposed to begin, with some fans already in the American city at the moment the gigs were delayed.

The news about lower-than-expected ticket sales has emerged shortly after Adele came in for criticism in the Celebrity Big Brother house, with former X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne laying into her.

Attempting to impersonate Adele’s accent, she replied: ‘I think that she plays the “Oh love, I’m so English” [routine]. And it’s like, cut the crap, you don’t talk like that anymore. Just sing, be true to who you are. But she does all this old English, you know.’
