A man has been found guilty of raping a 15-year-old girl after taking her out to sea to assault her.
Gabriel Marinoaica, of Walsall, raped the girl on a busy summer’s day at Bournemouth beach in Dorset, on July 18 2021.
The jury at Bournemouth Crown Court heard how Marinoaica, who was 18 at the time, pulled her by the arm into deep water where he groped her.
It was heard how the young girl could not escape from his grasp because she didn’t know how to swim.
The young girl could not scream because Marinoaica had his hand around her mouth.
He kissed her, then raped her, and only stopped when one of her friends approached him.
Detectives were able to arrest Marinoaica 11 months later after matching his DNA with a sample found in the child’s bikini bottoms.
Ellie Fargin, prosecuting, said the victim had been playing with a ball with some friends and another group.
After her friends left the water and went back to the beach, the victim went to fetch the ball that had floated away that had been picked up by Marinoaica.

He refused to give the ball back but eventually returned it the second time around.
He then asked the victim her name and age before saying he was Dabby from Birmingham.
Ms Fargin told the court: ‘It was at this point the defendant pulled at [her] arm and pulled her out to sea.
‘[She] could no longer touch the bottom, she really was in deep water. [She] told Marinoaica “No, get off me,” but he ignored her.
‘He was touching her everywhere, she was uncomfortable and wanted to get out but he pulled her out further.’
The girl was asked by Marinoaica whether she wanted to ‘smash’, and she said no.
Ms Fargin continued: ‘He took her out of her depth, he made her vulnerable, she couldn’t even swim, he might not have known that but he might have known she could not touch the bottom.
‘And why did he do that? So he could do what he wanted to do.
‘She didn’t consent, and we say he knew that – he simply didn’t care.’
