Alan Shearer is impressed with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s use of Ben White in recent weeks, insisting he’s becoming a ‘huge part’ of the team’s attack.

Shearer hailed Arsenal defender White last month for ‘adapting really well to a new role’ and ‘moving in and out of midfield’ to link up with Bukayo Saka.

The Gunners star impressed again on Saturday as he provided both assists in a 2-1 victory over Brentford, earning him another spot in Shearer’s Team of the Week.

‘Not only is he such a reliable figure in defence, [Ben] White is now starting to play a huge part in Arsenal’s attack,’ Shearer told the Premier League website. ‘As he showed by setting up both of their goals against Brentford.’

White was not the only Arsenal player to be included in Shearer’s Team of the Week with Kai Havertz and Declan Rice selected by the top-flight legend.

‘After a slow start at Arsenal, [Kai Havertz] is now coming up with huge moments in matches, scoring the late winner against Brentford,’ Shearer added.

‘Every week [Declan Rice] is delivering match-winning displays, having now scored in back-to-back matches. Undoubtedly one of the signings of the season.’

Shearer also picked two Tottenham players in his Team of the Week – Son Heung-min and Brennan Johnson – who both scored in a 4-0 win over Aston Villa.

Chelsea star Cole Palmer and Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho were named too alongside Liverpool pair Virgil van Dijk and Wataru Endo.

Shearer also opted to go for Wolves duo Jose Sa and Rayan Ait-Nouri after they helped Gary O’Neil’s side secure a 2-1 victory against Fulham.
