Zamfara State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Aisha Anka has suspended all medical outreach by any unidentified Non-Governmental Organization, NGO, and individual organisations.
The Commissioner expressed serious concern that some unidentified individuals and NGOs were conducting medical outreach without the consent of the ministry.
A statement issued by the spokesman of the ministry, Comrade Ibrahim Bello Boko said Anka made the statement in her office during a management meeting with directors and other senior officers of the ministry.
“The Executive Governor, Dauda Lawal has recently declared the State of Emergency in the health sector and all measures have been put in place to tackle the deplorable situations of health in the State.
“Any organisation or individual who wishes to come to the rescue or support the State is a welcome development but it should follow due process.
“The State government doesn’t hesitate to accept and welcome any organisation who is ready to support the State government in that direction but there are procedures to be followed,” the commissioner was quoted as saying.
