Watch moment woman is ‘swallowed by earth’ in middle of MOT

This is the moment a woman ‘was swallowed by the earth’ and fell into a vehicle inspection pit while getting an MOT.

The woman was walking straight into the ground and falling further down a set of stairs.

She was left shaken but largely unharmed following in the incident in Beckton, east London, the garage owner said.

Footage shows the woman walking behind a red Nissan Micra, but she does not realise the vehicle inspection pit is open and plunges straight in.

MOT centre owner Shaqib, who did not want to give his surname, said: ‘She was there to get her car fixed and was looking for one of my colleagues to have a word.

‘The tumble happened so suddenly that she wasn’t entirely sure what happened despite apparently being swallowed by the earth.

‘She knows all of the staff well and she just wanted to chat.

‘The whole thing happened so randomly I don’t think she even realised what had happened.’

Saqib says all involved took what happened with humour, and the woman suffered only minor bruises.

He added: ‘She was hurt but she only had some minor bruises. It was just a funny thing. We were all laughing about it.’

In February a suspected burglar was captured falling off a ladder and into a home owner’s window after trying to climb through a window.

The Beverly Hills Police Department released drone footage out of a window of a large house and onto the backyard.

While almost reaching the roof, he loses his grip and tumbles down into the swimming pool, making a splash.
