Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe hopes to raise as much as £100m through player sales this summer to ease the club’s Financial Fair Play concerns.
The Red Devils spent £170m last summer, recouping just £50m through the departures of Anthony Elanga, Dean Henderson, Fred and Teden Mengi.
While United’s recruitment failures have been well documented, the club have been just as bad in terms of exits.
Only five players – David Beckham, Daniel James, Romelu Lukaku, Angel Di Maria and Cristiano Ronaldo – have left the club for fees over £25m.
Ratcliffe, 71, wants this summer’s transfer window to be transformative to the club in terms of bringing in new recruits.

But just as important is clearing out deadwood within the squad, and Ratcliffe wants to raise £100m to ease the club’s Financial Fair Play concerns – which stopped Erik ten Hag signing a striker in January.
And the Daily Mail say that has seen United put up to 11 players up for sale, with up to 13 members of the first team to exit in a major overhaul.
Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Mason Greenwood are players that could fetch substantial fees.
Victor Lindelof is on the market, while loan players Facundo Pellistri, Hannibal Mejbri and Alvaro Fernandez are up for sale.
Anthony Martial, Tom Heaton and Jonny Evans will all depart when their deals expire in June, while United remain in discussions with Raphael Varane.
The Frenchman’s current deal expires at the end of the season and United did not take up an option to extend his deal by 12 months.
It remains possible that the club will trigger an extension, before listening to offers for the Frenchman.
Sofyan Amrabat will return to Fiorentina at the end of his loan deal.
