Eddie Howe says Newcastle United will have to be at their very best to ‘get something’ from their game against Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday.
Newcastle produced a 1-0 victory over the Gunners when the sides met at St James’ Park in November, a match which was laced with controversy.
That’s because Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was left furious over Anthony Gordon’s winning goal, which required VAR officials to check for three separate offences.
The goal was ultimately allowed to stand with Arteta labelling the decision a ‘disgrace’ as he went on an explosive rant about English refereeing.
Howe, meanwhile, felt that it was a ‘good goal’ and speaking ahead of the sides meeting again this weekend, the Newcastle boss said: ‘We have had some good games against Arsenal.
‘We will need to replicate close to our best performance to get something from the game.
‘Last season was a battling performance from us at the Emirates. Arsenal this season have been very good in every aspect of the game. It will be a challenge for us.’

Howe also provided a positive injury update on star striker Alexander Isak as well as former Arsenal star Joe Willock ahead of the clash in north London.
‘They have trained this week; it has been good to see them back on the grass,’ Howe added. ‘It has been a long time for Joe, he is a huge player for us.
‘We are pleased for him to be back amongst the group, he is a very popular member of the squad. Alex is an important player for us too, we have one more training session today – we won’t take any risks – but we are pleased with their progress.’
