Wayne Rooney insists his focus is on returning to football management despite receiving offers from the world of boxing.
The Manchester United and England manager was sacked by Birmingham City after just 15 games last month.
Last year, Matchroom Boxing chief Eddie Hearn raised the possibility of the 38-year-old lacing up the gloves to fight American superstar Jake Paul at Old Trafford.
Rooney is a huge fight fan, having brief boxed as an amateur as a teenager before committing to football with Hearn revealing the former striker has messaged him over getting into the ring.
Recent reports have suggested Misfits Boxing, the promotional group behind the influencer boxing scene led by KSI and Paul, have been in contract with Rooney to discuss him fighting on one of their upcoming events.
Speaking on Speak to Football, Rooney confirmed he has received an approach from Misfits and while he hasn’t ruled out fighting one day, he insists his main focus is returning to the dugout.
‘You never know,’ Rooney said. ‘They have been in touch and asked the question. But at the moment, I want to focus on getting back into management, not boxing.

‘There have been a few [people in contact], Misfits have been in. But I want to focus on getting back into management. I have seen the headlines but my main focus is getting back into football.
My dad boxed, my uncle still runs the gym, I absolutely love it. But right now, I want to get back into management.’
Rooney is now looking for his fourth job in management having started out at Derby County before moving to the US to manage DC United.
After a disappointing spell at Birmingham, the United legend says he is ready to drop down the leagues to kickstart his career.

Asked about potentially taking a League One job, Rooney said: ‘100 per cent. I said I want to get back into it and whether that is League Two, League One, Championship, it is all experience.
‘I’m still only 38. I have had three managerial jobs. I have got quite a bit of experience, going into administration with Derby, going out to the States, the challenge at Birmingham.
‘I have that to lean on and I’m still young in terms of a manager.’
