Woman launches racist rant at innocent tube-goer and tells her to ‘go back home’

This is the horrifying moment a woman launched into a racist attack at a passenger on the London Underground before blaming her tirade on a ‘spiked drink’.

Janice Wilding, 49, targeted a black passenger in December 2022 on the Jubilee line calling her the N-word and telling her to ‘go back to where she came from’.

Wilding said she was surprised after watching herself in the video, and insisted she acted that way due to a laced drinks.

Fellow commuters had to hold Wilding back as she continued her rant against the passenger.

She can be heard saying: ‘Don’t f***ing bring my mother into it. Because I’ll rip you apart b***.

”I will rip you apart. Because you’re black and you think you’re big innit. Shut your f***ing mouth.’

Passengers plead with Wilding to get off the train, but she yells at them: ‘Get your f***ing hands off of me. She’s a f***ing n****.’

Police recognised Wilding from an incident at a hotel earlier the same day, Inner London Crown court heard.

Witness Anyusha Rose, who filed the video, said Wilding was ‘clearly drunk’ and called other passengers ‘boring’ for not joining in with her songs.

Wilding was so upset people would not sing along with her, she threatened to film them and put them on YouTube, which made passengers feel uncomfortable.

One woman tried to grab Wilding’s phone out of her hands after it was pointed at her, triggering a wave of racist abuse.

She said to the Black woman: ‘Where the f**k you come from? Go back to Africa, you don’t belong here.’

Wilding then tried to throw a punch, but missed, while screaming: ‘Go back to Africa… Black c***… Bring it on you think you’re hard because you’re Black.’

She was charged with one count of racially aggravated violence.

Defence counsel Simeon Wallis said his client was ‘genuinely remorseful’ and wanted to apologise to the victim. 

He also claimed the outburst may have been due to ‘a combination of medication and alcohol’, and put forward Wilding’s claim her drink had been spiked.

‘Plainly Ms Wilding was surprised from what she saw in the video. Based on the stranger behaviour from other parts of the video she formed the view she had been spiked,’ Mr Wallis said. 

‘She was not drinking for the first time. She has never reacted to drink in this way before.’

Judge Peters said: ‘You decided to get annoyed when people got upset at your behaviour.

‘Then you issued the most vile language imaginable. People must be entitled to do what they do, whatever with their telephone or staring into space, without this sort of conduct and racist language.’

Wilding was given a 12 month community order and 100 hours of unpaid work.

The judge added: ‘Unpaid work was designed for people like you.’
