Two police officers and a paramedic have been killed after being called to ‘an incident with weapons’.
Police cars, ambulances, fire trucks and SWAT vehicles raced to the scene at the 12000 block of East 130th Street in Burnsville, Dakota County, Minnesota at around 5.30am on Sunday.
It’s been claimed the incident began with a stand-off and hostage situation with seven children inside a home.
All hostages are believed to have been released safely, and the suspect was found inside the home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound – but these details haven’t yet been confirmed by police.
Three police officers were shot while responding to the incident, and two of them died. A paramedic was also killed, reportedly while treating one of the officers.
Amy Klobuchar, US senator for Minnesota, said three officers were shot, adding in a statement on X: ‘Learned from police this morning that three officers have been shot in Burnsville.

‘They were doing their jobs. They were protecting our community.
‘John and I are praying for them and their families and the Burnsville P.D. this morning.’
Pete Stauber, representative for Minnesota’s 8th congressional district, added: ‘Devastating news coming out of Burnsville this morning. My prayers are with the fallen officers and paramedic, their families, and the entire Burnsville community.

Pictures showed a SWAT vehicle with at least six bullet holes in the windshield.
A shelter-in-place order was sent to local residents’ phones, The Mirror reports.
