Darren Bent thinks Arsenal should swap Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka for Kylian Mbappe (Picture: Getty)
Darren Bent has sensationally claimed that Arsenal should consider swapping both Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus to beat Real Madrid to the signing of Kylian Mbappe.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward put Europe’s top clubs on high alert when it was confirmed he would not take up the offer of a contract extension and will instead leave the French club at the end of the season.
Real Madrid have been earmarked as the likely destination for the 25-year-old but reports have suggested that Arsenal is an attractive proposition for Mbappe who could be tempted to follow in the footsteps of his biggest hero, Thierry Henry.
Meeting Mbappe’s wage demands would undoubtedly require the Gunners to sell key assets and Bent says they should consider sacrificing academy graduate Saka to raise the necessary funds.
‘I’m not giving up Saka and Odegaard. I’d give up Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard, or Gabriel Jesus and Saka,’ Bent said, speaking on talkSPORT.
‘That pains me because Saka, an academy graduate, but you are talking about arguably the best player on the planet and he’s not old, he’s young.
‘You’d have a centre-forward who was going to smash goals in and he can play on that right-hand side as well.’

Saka, who notched up his 50th Arsenal goal in the 6-0 win over West Ham, has registered 10 goals and seven assists in the Premier League so far this season.
Mbappe, meanwhile, has notched up a remarkable 20 goals in just 19 games, with four assists as well.
When asked about a potential move for the World Cup winner, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said he hopes the Gunners will be in contention.
