Chelsea captain Reece James has teased a return from injury but will not be fit in time for the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley in 10 days.
James has only managed 10 appearances across all competitions this term due to a hamstring problem and has now resumed light training as he targets a return to full training for March, according to The Athletic.
The England international right-back picked up the hamstring injury following Chelsea’s first game of the Premier League season against Liverpool in August.
That ruled him out of Chelsea’s next seven fixtures in the top-flight and he returned for eight Premier League games before injuring himself again.
James has not featured in any of Chelsea’s FA Cup matches this term and has only featured once in the Carabao Cup ahead of the final on February 25.
But the 24-year-old sent Chelsea fans into a frenzy on social media after posting a cryptic photo on his Instagram story on Thursday.
James uploaded an image of his feet next to his football boots, hinting that he will soon return to action, before it was later confirmed he was back in light training.
