Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has named the Manchester United defeat which made him think ‘wow’ this season.
The Red Devils have endured some embarrassing results this term, including a 3-0 Premier League loss at Old Trafford to AFC Bournemouth in December.
It was even worse for United in the Champions League as they finished bottom of their group which included Bayern Munich, Galatasaray and FC Copenhagen.
It was United’s 4-3 defeat to Copenhagen in November which really took the City manager by surprise – as well as the Danish club’s victory over Galatasaray.
Speaking ahead of City’s Champions League 16 clash against Copenhagen, Guardiola said: ‘We have seen what Copenhagen can do against Manchester United and Galatasaray in a really tough group.
‘When I saw what they did I thought ‘wow’ – they will be starving to compete and full of energy.
‘I don’t know what their rhythm will be like but hopefully we will be at a good level to compete.

‘We have to be prepared mentally. We have to be ready to suffer as it will be a tight game. Normally, my gut doesn’t lie to me.’
Speaking to TNT Sports before kick-off on Tuesday, Guardiola added: ‘The Champions League is special. Especially away in the last 16.
‘We know we can be out here, it happened in the past. [Erling Haaland] got two goals in the last game and step by step, he’ll get there.’
