Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag was full of praise for Diogo Dalot and his recent improved form after his side’s win against Aston Villa on Sunday.
United moved to within five points of Villa after a 2-1 victory in Birmingham, thanks to goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Scott McTominay.
McTominay’s winner came in the 86th minute and the Scot headed in from a brilliantly whipped cross from Dalot.
The Portuguese full-back has been shifted around the defence all season, thanks to injuries to Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw.
But he’s settled at right-back in recent weeks, and despite criticism over his early season form, Ten Hag feels Dalot is now proving his critics wrong.

‘Everyone gets criticism but he is a fantastic player who is developing very well,’ said Ten Hag.
‘He can play in so many positions and he is improving on crosses. He can score and his defending is improving so I am very pleased with him.’
United are interested in Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong and are considering making a move for him this summer.
However, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is likely to be the fall guy if a deal for Frimpong goes through.
The defender has 18 months left on his deal, and United will consider bids for him at the end of the season.
Wan-Bisska joined United from Palace in a £50m deal in 2019.
