Police Tackle NSCDC Over Claim Of Banditry In Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has denied claims by the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the State that bandits have infiltrated the State.

The Civil Defence boss made the claim in a viral video clip on social media within the week, wherein he also asserted that the informants of the bandits had been on the increase.

However, the State Police Command, in a press release issued by its spokesperson, Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar, on Friday, refuted the claim by the sister security agency, insisting that there was no such threat in the state.

“The attention of Gombe State Police Command has been drawn to a trending video in circulation purported to have emanated from a sister security agency that bandits have infiltrated Gombe State and that bandits informants are on the increase.

“The Command wishes to state emphatically that there is no such threat in Gombe State, and the Police in the Command in collaboration with other security agencies are committed in ensuring the protection of lives and property, maintenance of law and order in the state,” the statement read in parts.

The Command asked the general public to discountenance the viral video message and go about their lawful businesses as usual.

“Finally, the public is enjoined to report any suspicious persons or movements to the nearest Police Stations or through the following Police Emergency numbers for prompt response 08150567771 please,” the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) added.
