Father of Liverpool star Conor Bradley dies aged 58

Liverpool defender Conor Bradley is mourning the death of his father.

Joe Bradley, 58, passed away on Saturday morning and had been ill for weeks.

Conor Bradley has been a standout performer for Liverpool since he was given a run of games in the team last month.

The 20-year-old was named man of the match for his display in the 4-1 victory over Chelsea on Wednesday evening.

A statement from Liverpool read: ‘Liverpool FC is deeply saddened by the death of Conor Bradley’s father, Joe, today.

‘The thoughts of everybody at the club are with Conor and all of the Bradley family at this very difficult and sad time.

‘On behalf of Conor, LFC strongly urges that the family’s privacy is fully respected at this time.’

Meanwhile, Dungannon manager Rodney McAree has revealed that the Liverpool defender’s father had given his son ‘sound advice’ about his career.

‘For Conor, going from the highs where he has been – making his league debut, scoring his first goal and assisting so many goals – to the devastating news that we heard today is very difficult,’ McAree told the Belfast Telegraph.

‘Our thoughts and prayers are with Conor, his mother Linda and the family.

‘It is an awfully sad time for Conor and his family and they are in our thoughts.

‘His mum and dad have given Conor really sound advice over the years.
