Supercars have a 360 degree driving wheel and this is what they can do

One of Mercedes’ newest vehicles has shown off its amazing abilities on the Las Vegas strip.

A video of four G-Class electric vehicles doing 360-degree synchronised turns has mesmerised X users.

Amazingly, the vehicles can do so without turning the wheels, since each wheel has an electric motor to drive it in circles.

The motors apply forward and reverse power to each corner of the car, allowing the G-class to rotate in a perfect circle.

The demonstration was given in Las Vegas during the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) this week.

While the model which did the amazing stunt isn’t for sale yet, Mercedes is working to put it on the market soon.

The pricing hasn’t been released, but the new electric G-class EQG is exepected to retail with a starting price of £100,000.

And bad news for those in the UK who are hoping to get their hands on one – electric vehicles could cost £3,400 more this year unless post-Brexit trade rules are delayed.

Tariffs of 10% will be imposed on the exports of electric cars between the UK and the EU if at least 45% of their value does not originate in either the UK or EU.

But the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has called on the UK and EU to postpone this.

This is because battery production has not increased in Europe as quickly as hoped and manufacturers will struggle to meet the threshold.

Nearly half (49%) of all pure battery electric vehicles bought by UK buyers are from the EU.

A government spokesperson said in October: ‘We need a joint UK-EU solution to avoid consumers facing tariffs on electric vehicles from 2024 which do not apply to petrol and diesel cars.’
