She wants the heroes at Harefield Hospital who carried out her lung transplant to receive the Team of The Year gong.

Amy, 71, said: “They’ve been there for me through such hard times. When I was really poorly, they were the warm and friendly faces.”
Our annual Who Cares Wins awards, sponsored by the National Lottery, are our celebration of heroes from across the health sector.

Who Cares Wins Awards 2022
THE Sun’s Who Cares Wins awards will celebrate our dedicated healthcare workers in a glitzy ceremony hosted by the one and only Davina McCall.
It will be screened on Channel 4 and All 4 on November 27 at 6.30pm and these are the categories your health heroes could be in with a chance of winning:
Best Doctor – an NHS doctor – GP, hospital doctor or consultant
Best Midwife – an NHS midwife who has provided great care for a woman or her baby
Best Team – any NHS or healthcare team on the frontline and behind the scenes that has gone above and beyond the call of duty
Best Nurse – an NHS nurse in any field
Best Health Charity – For a charity that has helped change lives
Unsung Hero – For someone who deserves to be recognised and celebrated for their work helping others
Young Hero – For youngsters that have gone above and beyond. Open to anyone under the age of 18
Mental Health Hero – For significant contribution to mental health
999 Hero – For teams and individuals that have stepped up in a crisis

Diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis — chronic lung disease — Amy needed a lung transplant in 2022 to survive.
Among the team the brave mum has nominated are staff nurse Rachael McBride, porter Bob Silver, intensive care ward clerk Mark Hazel, transplant unit receptionist Lindsay Weeks, specialist critical care physiotherapist Caroline Briggs, senior physio Gemma Wood, housekeeper Sam Lord and Kirsty Jarvis, the transplant senior sister.
Amy, who spent three months recovering at the hospital in Uxbridge, West London, says: “The doctors and surgeons who did my transplant are amazing but it is the friendly faces you see at every appointment that mean the world.
“Katie couldn’t be here 24/7, so knowing I had a family here made everyone less worried about me.”
Staff nurse Rachael says: “When Amy was starting physio she told me she didn’t have anything to wear for it, so on my day off I got her some lounge wear from Primark.”
Porter Bob said: “Amy nominating us for Team of the Year award has made us really emotional.
“She’s an amazing lady and one none of us will ever forget.”
