Following Boko Haram’s attack on a 330KVA transmission line, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has contacted the Federal Government for the reconstruction of the destroyed transmission towers.
Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, disclosed this in a press release made available to newsmen in Damaturu on Saturday.
According to the statement, to provide alternative power to Damaturu and its environs, Governor Buni has directed the State Rural Electrification Board and Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) to restore the 330KVA transmission line from Potiskum to Damaturu with immediate effect.
“The general public is therefore enjoined to kindly exercise patience as Government is doing everything possible to address the situation,” the statement assured.
It also said the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has already awarded the contract for the reconstruction of the affected towers.
DAILY POST recalls that suspected Boko Haram terrorists blew up transmission towers in Kasaisa, a suburb community on the outskirts of Damaturu, the state capital, on Thursday night.
