Nigerian-trained Doctors Are Marketable – MDCAN

President, Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), Prof. Mohammad Aminu Mohammad, has said the tradition of maintaining high quality and carrying capacity by the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) and the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has made doctors trained in Nigeria to be marketable and sought after anywhere in the world.

“Doctors trained in Nigeria are marketable and being sought-after everywhere in the world because they can adapt perfectly to any situation they find themselves as a result of the training acquired in Nigeria,” he said in an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP Weekend in Jos.

He identified extra-curricular activities and inability of some students to withstand the rigors of medical studies as factors responsible for dropping out of universities.

According to him, in the first place, some students may not have understood what it takes to be a medical student as they usually engage in extra-curricular activities that would affect their academic works.

The president added that in most cases lack of concentration or poor academic output makes medical students to be withdrawn from universities before graduation.
