David Moyes is aiming for a repeat performance from his West Ham side when they host Manchester United this weekend, having downed the Red Devils in east London last season.
The Hammers beat Erik ten Hag’s side 1-0 in May thanks to a Said Benrahma goal and the former Manchester United manager wants to see more of the same on Saturday lunchtime.
He will certainly want to see a lot more from his side than he did on Wednesday night at Anfield where they were thrashed 5-1 in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
The Scot is not too concerned by the mauling on Merseyside, already looking forward to the challenge of welcoming the Red Devils to the London Stadium.
‘It’s a completely different competition,’ Moyes said on facing Manchester United after a tough loss in the League Cup. ‘We’re off the back of a really good [Premier League] win over Wolves, so our form has been pretty good and we want to keep that up against Manchester United.
‘I’ve always enjoyed playing against Manchester United. It was incredibly difficult to win against Sir Alex teams. I want us to give them as good a game as we did against them at home last season.
‘We’re fighting hard to stick around the position we’re in, we want to get European football for a fourth straight season. Our home form will be important to that and we want to get a result on Saturday.’

West Ham are eighth in the Premier League, one place and one point behind Manchester United, so will look to leapfrog them on Saturday.
‘It says a lot about where we are at the moment and what we’re doing that you’re talking about West Ham as direct rivals to Manchester United,’ said Moyes.
‘We’re fighting hard to stick with the top teams if we can. If we win it could get us into the top six or seven at the weekend, we’re just outside at the moment.
‘We want to keep that going, we want to keep pushing hard in the league and we want to try to get European football for a fourth year in a row if possible. Manchester United at home, we have to try and use our home form to get something out of the game.’
