LASTMA Rescues 3 Accident Victims At Oshodi

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) rescued three commercial bus passengers involved in an accident on Thursday at Anthony-Oke, inward Oshodi, Lagos. The accident involved a truck and a Volkswagen commercial bus.

A statement by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, revealed that the driver of the “Homo” truck recklessly crashed into a moving Volkswagen “T4” bus due to brake failure.

According to Taofiq, the accident resulted in three injuries – two female and one male passenger.

“Immediately after the accident, Traffic Officer Abidoye Segun (Zebra 4) led the rescue operation, quickly contacting Mosafejo Police Station and officials of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) before rescuing the three accident victims, including the truck driver,” Taofiq stated.

He further noted that the General Manager of LASTMA, Bakare Oki, visited the scene and warned long-vehicle drivers against reckless driving. Bakare-Oki emphasized the importance of ensuring their heavy-duty vehicles are in good condition, especially the braking system, before embarking on any journey within or outside the state.

He appealed to the public, particularly motorists, to obey all traffic regulations for the safety of all road users, especially during the upcoming Yuletide season.
