Ex-Education Minister’s Daughter Dies In Fire Incident

 

The daughter of a former Ghanaian Education Minister, Professor Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, has passed away on Thursday.

The deceased, Ewurama Ameyaw Akumfi, who was a teacher died in a tragic incident following a fire outbreak at the family’s residence in Techiman, Bono region.

She was reportedly treated in a Hospital after sustaining severe burn injuries from the fire incident.

Before her demise, she was pursuing a law degree at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

The unfortunate event occurred on Saturday, December 9, 2023, while her father who is the Board Chairman of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), was away attending a funeral in the community.

According to Modern Ghana, investigations suggest that an explosion in one of the rooms triggered the fire, causing extensive damage to the property.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded to the incident, but the building was already engulfed in flames upon their arrival.

Ewurama, the only person at home during the fire, attempted to escape but suffered severe burn injuries.
