Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy is open to joining Manchester United in the January transfer window and has been encouraged by the interest from the Premier League club, according to reports in Germany.

The 27-year-old has been one of the standout performers in the Bundesliga this season with 15 goals in 10 appearances – only three behind Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane.

Guirassy has already attracted interest from several clubs across Europe including AC Milan, Roma and Atletico Madrid.

It’s understood that United and Newcastle are two Premier League sides who have already registered their interest in the Guinea international ahead of the January transfer window, although neither club have spoken directly with Stuttgart to discuss a deal.

According to Bild, Guirassy ‘feels flattered’ by the interest from Erik ten Hag’s side and has not closed the door on the possibility of leaving Stuttgart next month.

Negotiations over a transfer fee will also be made easier as Guirassy has a €17.5 million (£15m) release clause in his deal with Stuttgart.

Speaking last weekend, Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeness did not rule out the prospect of losing Guirassy in the January window.

‘In football you can never exclude anything, so I won’t do that here either.
