A five-year-old boy has died after falling into a swimming pool in a tragic accident on his first holiday abroad.
Kelan Logan-Derench from Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, was in Egypt with his mum, older sister, and grandmother when he died.
They had arrived in Egypt on Friday and just a day later Kelan died after entering the water.
Kelan, who was a pupil at New Hall Primary School, was described as a ‘cheeky, mischievous, happy little boy’ by a family friend.
A fundraiser set up by Serena Whitehead, who is close to Kelan’s mum Ciara, is aiming to raise fund to bring Kelan back home and give him ‘the funeral he deserves’.
She said the family is ‘absolutely broken’ by what has happened.
Kelan was due to become a big brother in February next year.

So far more than £12,500 has been raised in his honour.
Serena said on the fundraising page: ‘Kelan was a cheeky,mischievous, happy little boy, he was a younger brother to Cienna and was about to become a big brother himself in February 2024.
‘Kelan’s whole family are absolutely broken and we can only imagine the pain they are going through, the least we can do as friends of the family and as a community is to help them by offering some financial support so that they can bring Kelan home and give him the funeral he deserves.’
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has been asked for comment.
