Gabriel Jesus has been left out of Brazil’s squad to face Colombia but he remains hopeful of facing Argentina next week.

Brazil take on Colombia in a World Cup qualifier on Thursday but Jesus has remained in his home country to continue recovery from a hamstring strain.

Jesus hasn’t featured for Arsenal since injuring his hamstring in a win against Sevilla in the Champions League.

Mikel Arteta was unhappy that Jesus was selected for an international call-up but was powerless to stop Jesus from making the trip.

At this stage, Brazil are keen for Jesus to feature against Argentina on Tuesday as they look to book a spot in the 2026 World Cup.

Arsenal remain in regular dialogue with Brazil’s medical department but they’re powerless to stop the striker from featuring against Argentina if the national set-up see fit.
