It may be slim pickings for Manchester United’s player of the season so far, but Mikael Silvestre has narrowed it down to either Bruno Fernandes or Victor Lindelof.
The Red Devils have had a disappointing start to the season, although recent victories have seen them climb to sixth in the Premier League table they also sit bottom of their Champions League group.
A lack of goals has been one of their problems, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Antony all struggling to find the back of the net, which is partly why they have a goal difference of -3 after 12 games.
There is no real standout when it comes to who has performed best for Erik ten Hag’s side so far this campaign, but former United defender Silvestre things it is one of two men.
‘It’s between Bruno Fernandes and Lindelof,’ Silvestre told bettingexpert.com. ‘He’s scored goals and has a big influence.
‘Lindelof has shown resilience and versatility. He’s got better this season.’
‘There’s not much to choose from. The team is conceding and not scoring.’

Silvestre has called on Fernandes to help lead the Red Devils out of their difficult period, with huge games coming up after the international break against the likes of Everton, Galatasaray and Newcastle.
‘Bruno needs to lead Manchester United to success to be recognised but he won’t be able to do it alone. He’s playing his role and most of the time he’s playing well,’ said the Frenchman.
‘The goal (against Fulham) came from his quality but also his heart and his rage to fight against United’s struggles. It’s what you want to see from your captain and your offensive player.
‘It’s a tough ride for United at the moment so he needs to carry on but not put too much pressure on himself.’
