Arsenal Welcome Sevilla To Emirate Stadium, Aim To Regain Momentum

Arsenal will aim to regain their momentum when they welcome Sevilla to Emirate Stadium on Wednesday for a crucial Champions League clash.

After a great start to the season, Mikel Arteta-led squad is now looking vulnerable lately following their first Premier League loss at Newcastle and embarrassing defeat to West Ham in the League Cup.

After slumping to 2-1 loss at Lens on matchday two, the Gunners got back up and running in Champions League Group B with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Sevilla a fortnight ago. That success coupled with results elsewhere has propelled the capital club to the summit of the section and another win on Wednesday night would all but seal their place in the last-16.

Mikel Arteta will be demanding a response from his side this midweek following the controversial 1-0 defeat at Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday.

As for third-placed Sevilla, they kicked off their Champions League campaign with back-to-back draws against Lens and PSV before their aforementioned defeat to Arsenal last time out.

The Red and Whites are treading water in the middle of the La Liga right now and arrive in north London off the back of a 1-1 draw at Celta Vigo on Saturday night.

While Sevilla haven’t been pulling up trees this season, they are a stubborn unit and that is evidenced by the fact that they have lost just one of their last seven matches in all competitions, which of course came against Wednesday night’s opponents Arsenal.

Therefore, another tight affair between the pair could be in store, but as was the case in Andalusia, the Gunners’ superior quality should eventually tell.
