Manchester City want to sign 18-year-old midfielder Kobbie Mainoo from rivals Manchester United, according to reports.
The teenager has made three first-team appearances for United to date, making his debut with a start in a 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Charlton Athletic in January.
Mainoo made his Premier League debut in February, coming on as a substitute in another 3-0 victory, this time over Leicester City, who were eventually relegated.
The England U19 international won the 2021-22 FA Youth Cup with the Red Devils and was crowned the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year last season.
Mainoo, who penned his first professional contract in May 2022 and took part in United’s pre-season tour of the United States this summer, has now reportedly attracted interest from neighbours City – who wish to lure him to the Etihad.
Pep Guardiola’s side smashed United 3-0 in the Manchester derby on Sunday with Mainoo an unused substitute on the bench.
It was the first time Mainoo has been named in a first-team matchday squad this term after recovering from an ankle injury he picked up in pre-season.

It is thought that Erik ten Hag is a huge fan of Mainoo and was taken aback by the player’s maturity last season.
But United boss Ten Hag is under huge pressure at Old Trafford and some reports have indicated that he could lose his job if he does not turn the club’s fortunes around.
United, though, have denied claims that they are lining up possible replacements for the Dutchman.
