Police and forensics officers were called to the scene
Italian police are investigating after a British woman was found stabbed to death at her home.
The 66-year-old’s body was found by a friend who went to her house in the Verratti district of Chieti to find her after being unable to reach her by phone.
Local media says neighbours alerted the authorities after hearing the woman’s screams.
The woman has not yet been named.
Officers are looking for the woman’s husband, who is said to have left in the family car.
The victim had been living with her husband in Italy for the last three years, and the couple were described as ‘private’ by neighbours who often saw them walking with their three dogs.
A murder investigation has been launched and the chief prosecutor of Lanciano, Mirvana Di Serio, was in attendance at the scene, The Sun reports.
