I rented phones for recording at start of my career – 1cloutdipson

Dreams are valid but if we start without seeing where we are going, we might not go anywhere after all. The end point is what fuels our tenacity and determination to keep going, regardless of the obstacles that by default, focus blinds us to acknowledge.

There is nothing of value that does not demand a price. Dipeolu Damilola Dipson, a young Nigerian dance sensation professionally known as
1cloutdipson had a hint of what he would become early in life and with years of  paying the price, it unlocked the key of greatness to him in the entertainment industry.

1cloutdipson is the only child of his parents who are from Sagamu, Ogun State. As great as his ambition was, he never once took his eyes off his education. It played a critical role in his exposure as a professional dancer and parental support was also priceless. Dipeolu Dipson, who is a student of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has molded himself into a brand influencing dance moves and lifestyle. He is sought-after by artistes who irresistibly admire his gift.

Recounting how it all started, 1cloutdipson said: “My parents have always been in full support of my craft, right from when I decided to start dancing. The attention has been overwhelming but it’s as a result of the hard work we’ve put in our craft. I started from nothing borrowing phones also paying people just to use their phones because they had good cameras just to shoot and create good dance content.

“Trekking to locations just to create dance content and gather audience on my page and also trying to link up with other dancers and other top dance sensations just for my face to be out there…the strive to save up money just to look good by buying clothes and shoes just to spice up my videos and make it look good, sometimes we were sent out from malls while shooting dance content but this never stopped the drive to be a dance influencer”, added 1cloutdipson.

He boasts of huge followings on social media, as many who do not consume such content have appreciated his gift and regard him as a trailblazer in the industry. In 2021, he co-founded a leading dance group, City Boyz, which consisted of nine close friends.

Dipeolu Damilola Dipson was inspired by Ayo & Teo to be a dancer. According to him, his role models are: Kida The Great, The Future Kings, Jabawokees, Jeriq The Husla, and Davido. Cloutbaby created a landmark dance step in a track, FEEL, in Davido’s new album. The entertainer explained the collaboration with the multiple award-winning singer and how it has immensely impacted his career.

“The experience creating the dance for FEEL, a song by Davido, was really unbelievable and crazy because I was not expecting to work with Davido this year or even any time soon. So when Davido offered the project at first, honestly I was short of words I can’t even explain or express how I felt that moment but trust me, I was one of the happiest, if not the happiest person on earth.

“And I knew at that moment that project was going to change my career forever and I had to put my all in it because it was a song from his upcoming album, which was definitely going to be a huge success. So, I felt so blessed to be part of the project.

“The support has really been massive because the moment he (Davido) followed me on instagram, honestly I thought it was a mistake until I had to text him and he replied me with a video of mine that he likes the video and since then, it has been support upon support”, 1cloutdipson.
