Workers picket KEDCO over alleged failure to remit pensions for 72 months

The National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, Kano Chapter, has shut down the Kano Electricity Distribution Company, KEDCO, over failure to remit pension for the last 72 months.

Leading the picketing of the electricity distribution company, the Northwest Chairman of the union, Comrade Ado Riruwai, said the workers cannot allow non-remittance of pension money by the company’s management.

Riruwai also alleged that the KEDCO management has been victimizing workers, particularly union leaders, who spoke out over the development.

He said the action of the management is tantamount to imperialism, and violates the rights of workers as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution.

In the same vein, the union accused the KEDCO management of refusing to provide medical care for workers.
